GNU Free Documentation License How do I extend a 8" clay yard vent that is 3 inches below the concrete in my parking pad? Q. The short story is that the previous owners covered the vent with 3" of concrete sometime ago. I had the vent riser located and I broke up a section of the pad and found the vent opening. Now I need to extend that clay section about 3 inches to flush up to the concrete surface. Any ideas what to use? Asked by Alan - Tue Jun 9 15:53:17 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. go to the hardware store, buy a piece of schedule 80 p v c the size that will just fit into the clay pipe, get a 90 degree bend stick that on the end of the p v c. if that doesn't make it flush add a piece of p v c to the bend that is short enough to have the vent grate come out flush with the pad. put the vent grate on top of the pipe and adjust till its level then pour your pad back around it. if the vent cover doesn't come with a frame that it sits in, paint the cover with diesel fuel, set it on the pipe, pour your concrete back and the concrete will make the frame and the diesel will keep the concrete from sticking to the lid so you can remove it when you need to. You're going to be doing a lot of work for something that won't work in the end. If this pot is going to be outside, and holding a plant, it just won't stand up to the elements regardless of what you spray or seal it with. Sorry, but it's just the case. Instead of spending a lot of time and effort on your project, you can buy a beautiful pot/planter like this for less than $15 and call it a day. I suggest you go shopping.
